The New York Giants are reportedly finalizing a deal with John Harbaugh to make him the franchise’s 23rd official head coach.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter was among the first to report the news. The Daily Mail has reached out to a Giants spokesperson for confirmation.

Harbaugh, who was recently fired after 18 years coaching the Baltimore Ravens, was expected to speak with multiple other teams about their respective vacancies, but now appears ready to take over at the Giants’ facility in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The Giants are coming off a 4-13 season that cost coach Brian Daboll his job 10 weeks into the season. He was replaced on an interim basis by offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, who went just 2-5.

The big draw for the Giants job may be quarterback Jaxson Dart, a first-round pick out of Ole Miss, who had a solid rookie season for Big Blue in 2025.

The progress for hiring Harbaugh happened rapidly after the Giants gave him the ultimate treatment to win him over, according to The Athletic’s Ian O’Connor.

Harbaugh was flown in on the private jet of part-owner Steve Tisch – which received plenty of flight-tracking attention from media and fans, O’Connor reports.

After meetings with Tisch, majority owner John Mara and general manager Joe Schoen, Harbaugh was treated to dinner at a local restaurant, O’Connor says.

He then took a tour of the team’s practice facility in East Rutherford – where reports say he met with Dart. O’Connor reports that Harbaugh told at least one person that there’s ‘a lot to be excited about’ when it comes to the Ole Miss product.

Harbaugh finally boarded his flight to leave the Tri-State Area around 7:30pm – which appears to be later than expected.

The 63-year-old had an interview scheduled at his Baltimore area home with the Tennessee Titans, according to NFL insider Dianna Russini. It is unclear if that meeting is still scheduled.

Harbaugh previously received a push to consider the Giants from none other than Daboll – who personally called him to advocate in favor of the team.

Harbaugh was the second-longest actively tenured head coach in the NFL right before he was fired for missing the playoffs.

At 18 seasons, Harbaugh was only behind Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin for the longest tenure at one team. Tomlin himself has since been fired from his post.

The Ravens lost the final game of the season to the Steelers on a missed field goal to shut them out of the postseason.

In addition to the Giants, Ravens and Steelers, the Atlanta Falcons, Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns and Las Vegas Raiders are all looking for new coaches.

The only other interview that Harbaugh has done so far is for the Falcons job, which he finalized on Monday.
