Leeds Rhinos have signed Salford loose forward Joe Shorrocks on loan until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old made 15 Super League appearances for the beleaguered Red Devils this year.
He could make his debut for Brad Arthur’s side in Thursday’s home game against leaders Hull KR.
“As soon as I signed the deal, it felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders as it meant not having to worry about anything but rugby now,” he told the club website., external
Shorrocks is the 14th senior professional to leave Salford this season because of their financial issues, and the third picked up by Rhinos with Kallum Watkins and Chris Hankinson also now at Leeds.
The Red Devils have had to rely on loanees from other Super League teams but last Sunday’s game against Wakefield Trinity was cancelled over welfare concerns, with the club saying only two of the 17 players available had any Super League experience over the past 12 months.
But Salford say they will fulfil Friday’s fixture against Leigh Leopards as planned.
