Jerry Jones’ daughter risks fan fury with controversial claim about Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl show

Charlotte Jones, daughter of Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, has risked the wrath of MAGA supporters after defending the decision to let Bad Bunny perform the Super Bowl LX halftime show.

The decision to name the Puerto Rican rapper as the musical act for this season’s football showpiece has proved fiercely controversial, with a number of MAGA commentators furious at the prospect of the anti-Donald Trump artist headlining.

Real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, his well-known disdain for Trump’s immigration policies has irked conservatives most, while several fans have also pointed out that his songs are almost exclusively performed in Spanish.

Despite all of these concerns, Jones has come forward and offered a ringing endorsement over the decision to have Ocasio perform at the showpiece event.

Speaking on The Katie Miller Podcast, she said: ‘I think our Latina fan base is amazing. And I think when you think about the Super Bowl, you want the No. 1 performer in the world to be there.

‘We’re on a global stage and we can’t ever forget that. Our game goes out to everybody around the world and to get the premier entertainer to want to be a part of our game, I think is amazing. We have a mixed culture.

‘Our whole society is based on immigrants that came here and founded our country. I think we can celebrate that. I think the show’s going to be amazing’.

Jones continued: ‘I don’t think our game’s about politics. I don’t think people tune in to look at politics. We do everything we can to avoid politics.

‘I think in that moment people will be watching the game, they’ll be celebrating music and nobody will be thinking about what comments on the left side, what comments on the right side. This is about bringing people together.’

Her comments come shortly after NFL commissioner Roger Goodell made an impassioned defense of the decision to choose Bad Bunny to perform.

‘He’s one of the leading and most popular in the world. That’s what we try to achieve,’ he said at the NFL’s league meetings in New York last week.

‘It’s an important stage for us, an important element to the entertainment value. It’s carefully thought through. I think it’s going to be an exciting and a united moment.’

‘I’m not sure we’ve ever selected an artist where we didn’t have some blowback or criticism. It’s pretty hard to do when you literally have millions of people who are watching.

‘But we’re confident it’s going to be a great show. He understands the platform that he’s on. The show will evolve from here. I’m not saying there won’t be additional talent but that’s always the way it works.’

House Speaker Mike Johnson, for one, called for Grammy Award-winning country singer Lee Greenwood to perform his 1984 hit, ‘God Bless The USA,’ while other conservatives have named country legend George Strait as a good choice for Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara.

Some critics went so far as to launch a petition demanding Strait replace Bad Bunny, whom they criticized for his gender-bending on-stage antics.

‘The Super Bowl halftime show should unite our country, honor American culture, and remain family-friendly, not be turned into a political stunt,’ read the petition.

‘Bad Bunny represents none of these values; his drag performances and style are the opposite of what families expect on football’s biggest stage.

‘Again, George Strait embodies unity, tradition, and the timeless American music that truly deserves the 2026 Super Bowl spotlight.’
