Jason Momoa was forced to evacuate his home in Oahu, Hawaii, as the island state faces its worst flooding in 20 years.
More than 2,000 people remained without power Sunday afternoon after a storm prompted evacuation orders for 5,500 people north of Honolulu — though they were later lifted — and more than 200 people were rescued from the rising waters.
“I got my family with me. We got out of the North Shore… our power went off… We’re safe for now, but there’s a lot of people who weren’t, so we’re sending all our love,” Momoa shared in a since-expired Instagram Story on Saturday, per People.
“The North Shore is pretty gnarly right now. So hopefully everyone’s safe and getting out… Stay safe out there.”
Oahu’s iconic North Shore, famed for its big-wave surfing, was submerged under muddy floodwaters after heavy rains fell on soil already saturated by downpours from a winter storm a week ago. The deluge dislodged homes and vehicles, prompting evacuation orders for 5,500 residents north of Honolulu.
Governor Josh Green stated the storm’s cost could top $1 billion, including damage to airports, schools, roads, people’s homes and a Maui hospital in Kula.
“This is going to have a very serious consequence for us as a state,” Green said at a news conference.
Green said his chief of staff spoke to the White House and received assurances that the islands would have federal support.

Momoa’s band, ÖOF TATATÁ, had been due to perform on O‘ahu over the weekend, but the group has since postponed the show.
The actor also posted a video on Saturday showing him and his girlfriend, Adria Arjona, handing out meals from Hawaiian diner chain Zippy’s to people who had lost their homes or were forced to evacuate.
“These past weeks have been heavy. The storms, the flooding, the constant rain across Oʻahu have affected so many of our people, especially those already facing hardship,” Momoa wrote his caption. “Seeing families displaced, communities struggling, and our unhoused neighbors hit the hardest.”
“We spent time on the west side, just trying to show love, bring some food, and remind our community that we see you, we stand with you, and you’re not alone,” he continued.
Added Momoa: “That’s what aloha is. It’s showing up for each other when it matters most.”
Momoa, 46, and Arjona, 33, took their relationship public in May 2024.
The Aquaman star was previously married to Lisa Bonet, 58, with whom he shares two children: Lola Iolani (16) and Nakoa-Wolf (15).
