Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev shared a moment together at the Australian Open after the World No 1 claimed his third Grand Slam.
Sinner entered the tournament in the midst of a strong run of form and was utterly dominant en route to Sunday’s final at the Rod Laver Arena.
Having decisively beaten American Ben Shelton to book his place in the final on Friday, the 23-year-old faced off against Zverev for the seventh time in his senior career.
Zverev had previously claimed wins over Sinner at the US Open in both 2021 and 2023, but in Melbourne he was powerless to halt the Italian’s momentum.
Ultimately Sinner triumphed 6-3, 7-6, 6-3 without conceding a single break point to retain the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup.
Sinner and Zverev have endured a testy relationship over the years, having previously traded words in the the media following their first senior meeting in 2020.

However, after Sunday’s final it was all respect between the world’s two highest-ranking players.
After Sinner claimed a momentous victory in front of a capacity audience, the pair came together in the centre of the court.
Zverev was clearly emotional following his defeat, and Sinner appeared to console his opponent before the pair shared an embrace.
Following the heart-warming moment fans took to social media to share their thoughts on the two players.
One wrote: ‘How can anyone hate this guy? Not just a champion on court but also a champion for everyone.’
