New York Giants quarterback Jameis Winston spilled a little too much personal tea when talking about the greatest season of his career.
Winston spent the 2025 season as a backup in New York as they rotated from Russell Wilson to Jaxson Dart – but eventually got some starts after Dart went down with an injury.
But before that, he was a first-overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was slinging the ball around with the best of them.
His most notable season came in 2019. It was a campaign of contradictions for Winston – who led the league in pass attempts (626) and passing yards (5,109), but also led in interceptions with 30.
Winston was a guest on the ‘New Heights’ podcast this week and reflected on that season with Jason and Travis Kelce.
In that discussion, he revealed the stresses he was under in his professional and personal life – including the one bizarre lifestyle change he made.

Winston lived with now-wife Brieon before they were married – drawing scorn from his parents
“That was a contract year — it was one of the most up-and-down years off the field that I had in my life, too,” Winston told the NFL brothers.
“I had just asked my wife to marry me and I was doing this freakin’ celibacy thing … like literally refraining from sex, man.”
As the quarterback explained, he was living with his then-fiancee, Breion, and their infant son. But Winston’s parents weren’t too pleased by them having pre-marital intimacy.
“We had to eliminate that,” Winston said. “I literally bought a property and was staying away from my house. It was so much going on.”
Jason made a sly remark, drawing laughs from everyone when he said, ‘Don’t take a black light into that house.’
Winston went on to describe 2019 as one of the most chaotic years of his life, which could be seen on the court.
In his final season with the Bucs, Winston threw for 33 touchdowns – but also 30 interceptions
In addition to the 30 picks, he threw for 33 touchdowns – becoming the first player in NFL history to put up ’30 and 30′ in one season.
The Bucs chose to pass on Winston that season, leading him to sign a contract with the New Orleans Saints.
While he signed with the Saints to ideally be the replacement for the aging Drew Brees, injuries derailed his momentum.
After just three seasons in ‘The Big Easy’, Winston left in free agency and has been a backup with the Cleveland Browns and the Giants the past two seasons.
