Jadon Sancho is set to resume full training with Aston Villa ahead of their trip to Tottenham after the international break as he tries to kickstart his career at the club.

Sancho has featured for only eight minutes of Villa’s four Premier League fixtures since he joined the club and Daily Mail Sport understands he was working separately from the first-team squad recently, while he was recovering from illness.

The 25-year-old, who is contracted to Manchester United, is having a significant proportion of his £250,000-a-week wages covered by Villa after joining in the closing hours of the summer transfer window.

His only start so far was in the Carabao Cup fixture at Brentford last month, when Villa were beaten on penalties.

He also showed some promise in his substitute appearances, at Sunderland in the League and against Bologna in the Europa League, and Villa boss Unai Emery has vowed to help Sancho regain his place in the England squad ahead of next summer’s World Cup.

After a worrying start to the season, Villa have found their stride again recently with four consecutive wins across the Premier League and Europa League.

They return to action at Tottenham on October 19, when Sancho will hope to involved.
