Jack Grealish has been warned against moving to Newcastle by Alan Shearer despite claiming the midfielder has ‘no future’ at Manchester City and has ‘lost his way’.
City signed the 29-year-old for £100million in 2021 and he is believed to earn £300,000 a week but he has slipped down the pecking order under Pep Guardiola.
He was left out of the squad entirely for City’s final Premier League game against Fulham and has only started one league match since Christmas.
The midfielder was told by Guardiola that he could be playing football at ‘another place’ next season and it appears increasingly likely that his four-year stint in Manchester is drawing to a close.
While Grealish has been linked with Newcastle, who will be in the Champions League next season, Shearer has cast doubt on a move.
‘I think Jack’s best position is coming off the left. That’s where we saw the best of him at Aston Villa and he was best there for Man City.
Grealish ‘has no future’ at Man City but might struggle to find a summer move, Shearer said

Pep Guardiola told Jack Grealish that he may have to find ‘another place’ to play next season
‘That’s the position where Newcastle are really strong. They’ve got Barnes and Gordon for that side so I’d be surprised if Newcastle were in for him,’ the former Newcastle striker and pundit told Betfair.
Grealish has won three Premier League titles, the Champions League and FA Cup at the Etihad but has only scored three goals in all competitions this season and has ‘lost his way’ at the club, Shearer said.
‘There’s no doubt Jack is a talented lad and a really nice guy, he just lost his way at Man City for whatever reason and whenever that happens, you’ve just got to get out and play football again,’ Shearer said.
‘It doesn’t look as if there is a future for him at Man City. I know the questions Pep has faced towards the end of the season and I saw his answers.
‘He’s been as diplomatic as he could be and don’t forget, he’s trying to protect the club because they have an asset that they may have to sell and if Pep says anything negative then that brings down the asset’s price.
‘From the outside looking in, it looks as if his future at Man City is done and he has to move on.’
Grealish has missed out on the past three England squads and he looks set to move on from City to rejuvenate his career ahead of next year’s World Cup,
But Shearer believes it could be challenging for the 39-cap international to find another club due to his enormous salary and a costly transfer fee and that he may have to move abroad.

Newcastle will play in the Champions League next season but have Barnes and Gordon already

The England star was left out of Manchester City’s final matchday squad in their trip to Fulham
He said: ‘From a City point of view, you have to remember they paid £100m for him, the length of his contract and the salary he’s on, there’ll be a lot of things that have to be worked out before he goes elsewhere because no one’s paying £100m for him again and I guess no one would pay the salary that he’s getting.
‘There will be a lot of things that would need to fall into place for him to leave and I guess Man City would help with that in terms of a payoff.’
‘If playing abroad is the only option then he’ll have to look at it but I’m sure he’ll have options from elsewhere.’
Amid turmoil over his future, Grealish was the last to leave celebrations as Kevin De Bruyne threw a stylish night out for his Manchester City team-mates as he said farewell to his adopted home.
The Belgian had a restaurant booked in Manchester on Wednesday night to mark his departure with his long-time colleagues.
Grealish was the final member of the first team squad to leave at 1.35am, decked out in ripped jeans as he was reportedly forced to squeeze his way past a drunk member of staff on his way out.
