Quarterback J.J. McCarthy got some unfortunate news moments before his Vikings debut on Monday – as one of the team’s top offensive linemen was ruled out through injury.

Left tackle Christian Darrisaw was announced as an inactive for the NFC North clash against the Bears with a knee injury.

The 26-year-old suffered a torn ACL and MCL last October.

Darrisaw is expected to be replaced by Justin Skule on the offensive line.

Minnesota will also be without veteran safety Harrison Smith due to an illness, while the Bears have some injury issues of their own as well.

Starting defensive backs Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon are both out for Chicago’s season opener against Minnesota, while linebacker T.J. Edwards has also been sidelined by a hamstring injury.

Darrisaw was limited to just seven games last season after injuring himself against the Rams on October 24.

Nonetheless, he practiced fully on Saturday and was listed as questionable on the team’s injury report heading into their matchup against the Bears.
