Oil prices climbed today on continuing fears of supply losses because of the US-Israeli war with Iran.

Brent crude futures rose $1.71, or 1.6 per cent, to $110.74 a barrel.

US West Texas Intermediate crude futures gained $0.71, or 0.6 per cent, to trade ​at $112.25 per barrel.

Iran’s military has warned of a “much more devastating” retaliation if Donald Trump follows through on his threat to target the country’s bridges and power plants.

“If attacks on civilian targets are repeated, the next stages of our offensive and retaliatory operations will be much more devastating and widespread,” said a spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the operational command of the Iranian armed forces.

This warning comes after Trump threatened to destroy Iran’s civilian infrastructure in an extraordinary swear-laden rant on Truth Social.

“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, ​in ⁠Iran,” Trump said.

“There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F***** Strait, you crazy ba******, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH!”

Two people were found dead under rubble due to an Iranian missile strike on a residential building in Israel’s northern city of Haifa, Israel’s fire and rescue authority said today.

The rescue mission, which started last evening, was still ongoing this morning as two other people remain under the rubble.

Paramedics said they rushed to the scene and searched through the rubble to dig out the injured, finding an older man in serious condition.

They added that three other people, including a baby, were slightly injured.

Donald Trump’s claim that Iranian negotiators have been given “immunity from death” comes after earlier reports suggested officials in Tehran feared peace talks were a trap to assassinate the Islamic Republic’s leaders.

The Iranian side believed that face-to-face talks could be a ploy to lure influential parliamentary speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf into the open, the Wall Street Journal reported last month.

Ghalibaf, a former paramilitary commander and among the few senior Iranian figures to have survived the airstrikes, is being sought by the US to participate in potential peace talks.

Last week, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said high-ranking Iranian officials were killed because they “strung” Trump’s administration along in talks that would put an end to fighting in the Middle East.

However, Trump told Fox News over the weekend that his administration had “told the people that we’re dealing with, who are the top people,” that they have been granted immunity.

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies said another Iranian volunteer was killed in the airstrikes on Saturday.

Abolfazl Dahanavi, 20, was killed on Saturday in Isfahan Province due to an airstrike while carrying out humanitarian activities, the group said.

He was the fourth Iranian Red Crescent volunteer killed in the line of duty since the conflict began on 28 February 2026, it added.

“This is unjustifiable. We have mourned before. We have called for protection before. We are calling again – with greater urgency and outrage: the killing of humanitarian personnel must stop,” the group said in a statement.

Airstrikes early this morning on Iran’s capital, Tehran, targeted the Sharif University of Technology.

Iranian media reported the strikes and damage to buildings there, as well as a natural gas distribution site next to the campus.

It wasn’t immediately clear what had been targeted on the grounds of the university, which is empty of students as the war has forced all schools in the country into online classes.

However, multiple countries over the years have sanctioned the university for its work with the military, particularly on Iran’s ballistic missile program, which is controlled by the country’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard.

The Iranian Red Crescent Society reported on Sunday that one of its ambulances was hit in an airstrike while providing emergency relief in Sepidan County, Fars Province.

Images published by the group on social media appear to show a badly damaged white vehicle.

At least 46 ambulances belonging to to the group and other emergency responders have been damaged during the war, according to the grou. At least four air workers have been killed, the group reported.

Donald Trump has now claimed that Iranian negotiators have been given “immunity from death”.

“And we’ve told the people that we’re dealing with, who are the top people,” he told Fox News.

Trump contended that the Iranians had already conceded on having a nuclear weapon. “They’re not even negotiating that point, it’s so easy,” he said.

“That’s already been conceded. Most of the points are conceded.”

Last week, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said high-ranking Iranian officials were killed because they “strung” Trump’s administration along in talks that would put an end to fighting in the Middle East.

“…some of the previous leaders, who are now no longer on planet Earth because they lied to the United States and they strung us along in negotiations, and that was unacceptable to the president, which is why many of the previous leaders were killed,” she told reporters.

An airstrike early this morning struck a residential building in a city southwest of Iran’s capital, Tehran, killing at least 13 people, Iranian media reported.

The semiofficial Fars news agency and Nour News reported the strike near Eslamshar. It wasn’t clear why the building had been struck.

Neither Israel nor the US claimed the strikes, but they came after Donald Trump issued a profanity-laced threat to Iran that it must reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

A press release from the White House says President Trump “stands as a fierce defender of the Christian faith.”

It does not appear that the president attended Easter church service on Sunday. He appeared at one of his golf clubs and was scheduled for an Easter dinner at the White House.

“From his first day back in office, President Trump has made protecting people of faith a cornerstone of his Administration,” the statement says. “Under his leadership, the U.S. is once again a beacon of religious liberty — honoring the biblical values and heritage that built our nation.”

The White House then goes on to list more than two dozen bullet points purporting to uphold Christian values, including several anti-abortion measures.

“On this sacred Easter Sunday, we are reminded that faith is not a private matter to be silenced by government, but a foundational strength of our Republic,” the message says. “Through bold leadership and unwavering commitment, the Trump Administration is restoring religious liberty, protecting the innocent, and ensuring that America will always remain one nation under God.”
