A superhero series considered one of the best shows currently on TV has soared back onto screens, delighting viewers.
The show in question is Invincible, an adult animation adaptation of Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker’s graphic novels. It follows Mark Grayson, a regular high school student whose father happens to be Omni-Man, one of the world’s most powerful superheroes.
Mark becomes the superhero ‘Invincible’, using his super-strength and flying abilities to defend the Earth. However, like all great teenage stories, Mark struggles with growing up and becoming the hero he was born to be.

Invincible was first released on Prime Video in 2021, immediately earning acclaim and solid viewership. A second season debuted in 2023, and the show has returned for new episodes every year since.
The latest run premiered on Wednesday (18 March), with fans tearing through the first three episodes – and the show’s just as good as ever. Journalist David Opie said that Invincible “might be one of the all-time great comic book shows” while another fan concurred: “INVINCIBLE S4 has such an incredible first couple of episodes. The first 15 minutes of episode two in particular is honestly the show at its best.”
An additional viewer wrote on X/Twitter: “The best animated show out right now is 100% Invincible. What a show.”
Steven Yeun, JK Simmons and Sandra Oh have returned to voice the lead characters, with Yeun’s former Walking Dead co-star Danai Gurira joining the cast alongside Matthew Rhys, recently seen in Netflix thriller The Beast in Me.
Former voice stars include Seth Rogen, who co-produces the show, Sterling K Brown, Aaron Paul and Ezra Miller, who voiced scientist DA Sinclair until being replaced by Eric Bauza from the show’s second season onwards. Both Yeun and Brown have received Emmy nominations for their voice performances.

Tim Robinson, Rhea Seehorn, Rob Delaney and Fallout star Ella Purnell are also a part of the show’s stacked ensemble.

Invincible has proved a critical smash, with a fifth season announced before the arrival of the fourth. At the time of writing, the new season has a perfect score of 100 per cent on review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes. Of the show’s 27 episodes released to date, 11 have a score of more than nine out of 10 on IMDb.
The series, referred to as an animated version of Prime Video’s ultra-violent superhero show The Boys, is available to stream now. The final season of The Boys returns in April, with spin-off Vought Rising, starring Aya Cash, Jensen Ackles and Nicolo Pasetti, set to be released in the coming year.
