Faye Williams gave birth to a girl after going into labour at the Oasis concert

A pregnant fan has missed an Oasis concert she had been looking forward to after going into labour at the event.

Faye Williams, 34, travelled from her home in Hull to see the band’s hotly anticipated return to Manchester at Heaton Park, according to Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

The NHS worker went into labour just as the opening act Cast took to the stage.

However, Mrs Williams did not look back in anger and said: “I may have missed the entire Oasis concert I’d been waiting for my whole life, but I gained a daughter – which still feels like a win.”

Faye and Steve Williams went to see the band with their friends

She said: “We were so excited when we managed to get tickets last year. After days of trying, I managed to get enough tickets for me, my husband Steve, my sister and brother in-law and our two friends.”

After Ms Williams got the tickets, she became pregnant with the due date being the day before the concert.

“We decided to risk it. You only live once,” she said.

The couple did have a masterplan for whatever was to come.

Ms Williams said they took precautions by parking nearby and having maternity bags and provisions at her sister’s house an hour away, in case she went into labour.

She said: “I had absolutely no signs I was ready to give birth.

“As Cast came on, I went off.”

Steve and Faye Williams have not settled on a name for their daughter but say they will “just roll with it”.

Ms Williams said the medical team on site were “incredible” and arranged for her to be taken to North Manchester General Hospital where the maternity team were waiting.

She said: “From start to finish the labour was two-and-a-half hours. The whole experience was a whirlwind.

“We didn’t know gender, but we are incredibly happy to welcome a beautiful baby girl into our family.”

She said she had tried to get tickets to another performance, but had not been able to. .

“Naturally, now I have told everybody about the birth, all my friends have been asking if she will be called Sally or Lyla – but we still haven’t settled on a name.

“We’ll just roll with it,” she added.
