Hugo Ekitike says he is learning a lot from fellow striker Alexander Isak and the pair can play together as a £204million strike force if needed.
The France striker, who is the Reds’ top scorer this season with five goals in eight games, was signed a month before Isak’s record-breaking arrival as Arne Slot upgraded his strike options this summer.
And the big question around Anfield is whether the pair can play together or not, with Ekitike the best-performing new signing at Liverpool so far this season.
Speaking to the media for the first time since his £79m signing from Eintracht Frankfurt, Ekitike said: ‘We play in such a big club… I can’t see any big clubs playing with just one striker in the squad.
‘It is good that Alex is here. For me, at my age, I have a lot of things to improve and learn. It is good that he is here.
‘It is for the coach to decide how we want to play. I have been playing in a two-striker composition, one striker, I can do a lot of things. If we have to play together, I can do that.’

The Frenchman apologised for getting sent off in the Carabao Cup win over Southampton
Ekitike was sorely missed at Selhurst Park as Liverpool lost against Crystal Palace on Saturday – and he only had himself to blame.
The 23-year-old was foolishly shown a second yellow card and sent off for taking his shirt off to celebrate a goal in the Carabao Cup last week.
On that incident, he added: ‘That was not smart! Obviously, I punished myself a lot. I felt disappointed watching the boys from home on Saturday.
‘As I said, I apologise to everybody, to my team-mates. It won’t happen again. I will just move on now, I am looking forwards.’
Liverpool beat Newcastle and Manchester United to Ekitike’s signing and, asked why he chose the Anfield club, he said: ‘This was the best choice. The champions of England. Great players and history, it just fitted for what I was looking for. It was the best option, I wanted to come.’
Slot left Federico Chiesa, who scored on Saturday to spark a clamour for him to earn a rare start, at home for the trip to Istanbul.
The head coach said this was due to the Italian picking up a minor niggle in training before the flight to Turkey.
