For chocolate obsessives, Hotel Chocolat’s velvetiser has changed the game – and, happily, hot chocolate season happens to coincide with the biggest deals event of the year: Black Friday. The mega-sale officially lands on Friday 28 November, but I’ve already spotted a rare deal on the velvetiser.

Since launching in 2018, the hot-chocolate-maker has become a beloved kitchen-counter staple, heating and whisking milk and chocolate flakes, or powder, to create dreamy drinks. Our velvetiser tester praised its “rich and frothy” hot chocolate that felt “really luxurious”. This year, we were treated to an all-new velvetiser, which received rave reviews from our tester, too.

The OG velvetiser will set you back no less than £100 (Johnlewis.com), while the newer model is even more of an investment at almost £150 (Hotelchocolat.com). While we haven’t seen price cuts from third-party retailers, in the run-up to Black Friday, the brand is treating chocoholics to a £30 saving on the velvetiser with a membership offer.

To find out if you could nab a deal on the velvetiser during the sales, keep reading for our predictions as well as all the details of the exclusive early offer.

Will Hotel Chocolat have a Black Friday sale?

Yes – Hotel Chocolat will be holding a Black Friday sale. The good news is that this year’s event will include 15 per cent off orders £35 or more (including free delivery). The bad news is that the velvetiser and better way bars will be excluded from the offering – which makes the membership deal below even more appealing. The sale will kick start on Monday 24 November and end on Wednesday 3 December.

“Without fail, each time I’ve used the all-new velvetiser, it’s delivered perfect drinking chocolate,” said our tester, Mollie Davies, in her review. “This is an expensive bit of kit, but hot chocolate obsessives won’t regret it,” she added. While it’s not a Black Friday discount, Hotel Chocolat is offering customers £30 off the velvetiser for a limited time only. Both new and existing VIP.ME members can purchase the new velvetiser for £119.95 – and it’s free to become a VIP.ME member.

Will the Hotel Chocolat velvetiser get a Black Friday discount?

While we won’t see a discount from Hotel Chocolat itself, it’s worth checking which large retailers, that hold Black Friday sales, also stock the velvetiser. The original is currently stocked at John Lewis (£100, Johnlewis.com), Very (£109.95, Very.co.uk) and Currys (£110, Currys.co.uk), for instance. Meanwhile, you and QVC (£149.88, Qvcuk.com).

Are there any early Black Friday deals on the Hotel Chocolat velvetiser?

There are currently two ways to save on the velvetiser. Firstly, you sign up for the brand’s ‘drinking chocolate’ subscription, which saves you £40 when purchasing the new velvetiser (£109, Hotelchocolat.com). A subscription can be signed up for either six or 12 months, and you can choose two boxes of 10 single-serve sachets every month, delivered right to your door.

Secondly, you can save £30 when signing up to the VIP.ME service. New and existing members can purchase the new velvetiser for £119.95 – and it’s free to become a VIP.ME member.

When is Black Friday?

Officially, this year Black Friday kicks off on 28 November and runs until Cyber Monday on 1 December, but each year, the event seems to get longer. Heavy hitters such as John Lewis, Currys, Amazon and more typically jump the gun and launch early deals from early November.
