Contribute to ICO’s revised cookies guidance
The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is inviting feedback on its draft updated guide on storage and access technologies, previously known as the detailed cookies guidance.
The guidance explains how Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and data protection law apply to technologies that store or access information on devices like computers or mobile phones.
The guide aims to give online services and websites clarity on the range of storage and access technologies used in online tracking, including cookies, tracking pixels and fingerprinting.
The ICO’s survey takes around 15 to 20 minutes and covers four sections
- views on the proposed regulatory approach
- assessing the impact of the approach
- information about you and your organisation
- final comments
This consultation is open until 5pm on Friday, 14 March 2025.
