A video of Greg Biffle surprising his wife with a ‘date night’ has resurfaced as a tragic final memory after the NASCAR icon and his family died in a horrific plane crash.
The 55-year-old, his wife Christina, and their two young children were confirmed among the six victims of the disaster at a North Carolina airport on Thursday.
Biffle’s Cessna C550 private jet was seen burning on a runway at Statesville Regional Airport around 10:15am on Thursday, nine months after obtaining his pilot’s license.
In a cruel twist of fate, the racing community’s final glimpse of Biffle was a heartwarming YouTube video titled ‘Surprised Wife with Date Night to the PRI Show’.
The footage, posted on December 11th, captured the tender moment Biffle surprised Christina with a trip to Indianapolis for what she believes is a standard date night.
However, in reality, it was a surprise trip to the 2025 Performance Racing Industry Show, held in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The video opened up with a beaming Biffle leading Christina through the airport, where he teased he had a ‘little surprise’ for his wife.
The rest of the video showed the couple’s time at the convention before ending with them heading for some food to round off their ‘date night’.
The description of the video reads: ‘We had fun seeing all the different vendors and chatting with old friends!’.
In the wake of their deaths, the comment section for the YouTube video was flooded with tributes from fans.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, authorities confirmed that a total of six people died in the inferno, which federal investigators are now working to understand.
Biffle and wife Christina Grossu were married in January of 2023 and share a child, Ryder Jack, who was born in September of 2020.
He and his first wife, Nicole, were married in October of 2007 and later had a daughter, Emma Elizabeth, who was also killed in Thursday’s crash.
Nearly 24 hours before the fatal crash, Cristina posted a picture in the car on her Instagram story with the caption: ‘Busy day today.’

Grossu was a realtor, CEO of My Replica Ring, and a travel agent for CG Luxe Travel, according to her Instagram account.
The couple often posted pictures together online at family and racing events.
The deaths were confirmed by high-profile family friends, including North Carolina US Congressman Richard Hudson.
‘I am devastated by the loss of Greg, Cristina, and their children, and my heart is with all who loved them,’ Hudson wrote in a tribute on X.
‘Greg was a great NASCAR champion who thrilled millions of fans. But he was an extraordinary person as well’.
Preliminary flight tracking showed that Biffle’s aircraft left Statesville Regional Airport, which is about 45 miles north of Charlotte, at around 10 am.
The Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) told the Daily Mail that the Cessna C550 crashed while attempting to land.

Garrett Mitchell, who often appears in YouTube videos with Biffle, wrote on Facebook to say that Biffle was on board the plane
The tragic incident comes after Biffle posted a picture of him piloting the very same plane in September.
According to FAA records, the aircraft belongs to the semi-retired NASCAR driver who was seen in a smiling snap with President Donald Trump in February at the NASCAR Cup series in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Statesville Regional Airport said in a statement: ‘We can confirm there has been an aircraft incident at the Statesville Regional Airport.
‘At approximately 10:15 am, an aircraft crashed while landing. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is en route and will investigate the incident.’
