Shropshire Council is inviting residents, health professionals, and community organisations to take part in a public consultation on the draft Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) 2025.
Pharmacies are a vital part of our healthcare system, offering advice, treatment, and access to medicines close to home. The PNA helps ensure that pharmacy services across Shropshire continue to meet the needs of local people—now and in the future.
The draft PNA 2025 outlines the current provision of pharmaceutical services across the county, identifies any gaps, and explores how services could be improved or expanded. It includes:
- A review of local pharmacies and the services they provide
- Information on dispensing practices and appliance contractors
- Maps showing how services meet the needs of rural communities
- Potential gaps in provision and suggestions for addressing them.
Bernie Bentick, Shropshire Council cabinet member for health, said:
“Pharmacies are often the first point of contact for health advice and support as well as how people obtain both regular and emergency medications. This consultation is a chance for everyone to help shape how these critical services are delivered across Shropshire. We encourage as many people as possible to take part.”
Whether you’re a regular pharmacy user, a healthcare professional, or part of a local organisation, your feedback is essential in shaping the future of pharmacy services in Shropshire.
The consultation is open from 27 June to 26 August 2025, and the final report will be published by 1 October 2025.
