Harry Kane breaks silence on claims he may return to the Premier League – after Thomas Frank urged he is ‘welcome’ back at Spurs and ‘secret Bayern Munich exit clause’ is revealed

Harry Kane has broken his silence on a possible return to Tottenham next summer, insisting he is ‘very happy’ at Bayern Munich.

The 32-year-old English striker netted his 100th goal for the German giants last night, scoring a brace in a 4-0 win over Hoffenheim to continue his red hot form.

Spurs boss Thomas Frank recently opened the door for Kane to come back to his old club, saying he’d be ‘welcome’, and Bild have reported that Kane has a secret £56.7m release clause that can be activated if the striker expresses his intention to leave by the end of the January transfer window.

But Kane played down the chances of returning to the Premier League when asked about his future.

In a post-game interview, he said: ‘I’m really happy here at Bayern,’ he added. ‘I have two years left on my contract. And to be honest, I’m enjoying every minute.

‘I enjoy playing here in front of the fans. I enjoy the team, the coach. So that’s not on my mind at all. I’m just looking forward to this season and hope we’ll be successful.’

Frank had said earlier this week: ‘There’s a lot of Tottenham fans — including myself — who would like to see Kane back. He’s a top player.

‘I don’t think he will do it right now. He was top scorer last year and won the championship. He’s doing fantastic.

‘I don’t know what he’s thinking. I’m a traveller, I like to travel, I like to explore things as well. He was here for many years, so why not enjoy Bayern a little bit more?

‘But he’s welcome. If he wants to join us, he’s more than welcome.’

And when asked about the issue, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl told BILD: ‘He’s old enough to make his own decisions. ‘Whether clause or no clause, whatever – if he says, “I want to make a decision,” then he’ll make it, as he showed at Tottenham.

Bayern also deny the existence of a release clause in the Kane’s contract.

‘But our wish is, of course, to be very, very successful with Harry this season and in the future!’

On Friday night Kane became the fastest player since 1992 to reach 100 goals for a club in one of Europe’s top five leagues.

Kane, 32, joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham for £100million in the summer of 2023, and the England captain has been a revelation in Germany.

The striker ended his trophy drought last season when he won the Bundesliga with Bayern, while he has also set several records with his goalscoring exploits.

And on Friday, Kane added another accolade to his long list as he scored twice in Bayern’s 4-0 win over Werder Bremen.

Kane is in the midst of an incredible run of form, with the England star having netted 15 goals in just eight games this season.

Evidently, he is enjoying life in Bavaria with his wife Kate and their four children. In May he said: ‘I’m really happy here in Munich.

‘My family has settled down. My kids are loving it here in school, so yes, this is my life here for the foreseeable future.’

That said, Kane is within striking distance of breaking Alan Shearer’s Premier League goals record. Kane left Spurs on 213 goals, just 47 off Shearer’s long standing mark of 260.

No doubt that mark will be in the back of his mind as he enters the final few years of his career and plots his next move.
