Harry Kane broke another record on Friday night as he became the fastest player since 1992 to reach 100 goals for a club in one of Europe’s top five leagues.

Kane, 32, joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham for £100million in the summer of 2023, and the England captain has been a revelation in Germany.

The striker ended his trophy drought last season when he won the Bundesliga with Bayern, while he has also set several records with his goalscoring exploits.

And on Friday, Kane added another accolade to his long list as he scored twice in Bayern’s 4-0 win over Werder Bremen.

After Vincent Kompany’s side went ahead through Jonathan Tah, Kane doubled their lead on the stroke of half time when he won and converted a penalty.

He then fired home from close range in the 65th minute to reach of century of Bayern goals in just 104 appearances. Konrad Laimer added a late fourth to continue the German giants’ unbeaten start to the season.

Reaching 100 goals in that timeframe saw Kane beat a record that was jointly shared by Erling Haaland and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Haaland reached 100 strikes for Man City in his 105th game, while Ronaldo had the same record at Real Madrid, meaning Kane edged out the pair by just one match.

Luis Suarez is next on that list after the Uruguayan striker got to 100 Barcelona goals in his 120th game , with Zlatan Ibrahimovic achieving that feat in 124 matches at PSG.

Elsewhere, Ronaldo reached 100 goals at Juventus in his 131st game, the same timeframe it took Ruud van Nistelrooy to net 100 times at Manchester United.

Speaking after his incredible achievement Kane said: ‘It’s crazy even for me.

‘It’s an honour to reach 100 goals for this great club. To do it so quickly, I’m very proud of that. Hopefully I can reach another 100 as soon as possible.’

Kane also went on to rubbish recent speculation that has linked him with a return to the Premier League.

‘I’m really happy here at Bayern,’ he added. ‘I have two years left on my contract. And to be honest, I’m enjoying every minute.

‘I enjoy playing here in front of the fans. I enjoy the team, the coach. So that’s not on my mind at all. I’m just looking forward to this season and hope we’ll be successful.’

Kane is in the midst of an incredible run of form, with the England star having netted 15 goals in just eight games this season.

His recent record comes after he enjoyed another fruitful weekend last time out during Bayern’s 4-1 win at Hoffenheim.

After scoring a hat-trick, it meant Kane reached 70 Bundesliga goals in his 67th game which is the quickest it has ever been done.

He also has the record for the most goals scored by a player in their first 50 games in the competition after netting 54 times, while it only took him 43 matches to reach the half century mark.

Kane’s successful penalty on Friday night also means he has scored all 18 spot kicks he has taken for the Bavarian giants.
