- Gold Coast and Brisbane squared-off in the QClash at the Gabba on Sunday
- Brisbane could take a four-point lead at the top of the ladder with a victory
A bizarre moment during Brisbane’s clash against Gold Coast at the Gabba on Sunday night as youngster Bailey Humphrey appeared to throw a chunk of mud at Jarrod Berry.
The incident took place just before quarter time, with the 20-year-old looking to put his opponent off with the piece of turf, as Berry looked to slot a major from just outside the arc.
Humphrey was seen bending over and waving his arms as Berry began his run-up.
He stooped down, grabbed a piece of turf and then flung it at his opponent as he got closer, ultimately conceding a 50 mere penalty.
‘Oh no! That’s a cardinal sin with a wet ball, he wasn’t going to make the distance,’ Jonathan Brown, speaking to Fox Footy, said.
‘Picked up a handful of mud and threw it at Jarrod Berry.’

‘It’s cost him and his team 50 metres and a goal. In the rain, it would have fallen short,’ Anthony Hudson added.
‘Brisbane’s only goal registered on the back of that … The QClash has delivered another little bizarre moment for us!’
Brisbane would go on to take a three-point lead after the goal and would come out again in the second quarter firing, with Charlie Cameron nabbing a quick-fire brace before Conor Mckenna extended the hosts’ lead.
Jed Walter would pull a strike back to see the Suns trail the 2024 premiers 32-21 at half-time.
