Rory Lobb has finally cut ties with Perth, cashing in on his home for a huge $800,000 profit after his explosive Fremantle exit.

The Western Bulldogs forward has sold his Hamilton Hill house for $1.38million after buying it for $600,000 in 2018.

The sale marks more than just a financial win. It reinforces his departure from Western Australia following one of the more contentious exits in recent Dockers history.

Lobb’s split from the club at the end of 2022 came after he pushed for a trade despite having a year remaining on his contract.

The request created tension behind the scenes and left supporters frustrated, particularly given his strong on-field form that season.

He later admitted he felt like he was ‘on the outer’ at the club and said he ‘couldn’t have handled’ staying for another year, making it clear a move was necessary.

Fremantle initially resisted but ultimately agreed to the deal in the final moments of the trade period, sending Lobb to the Western Bulldogs in exchange for pick No.30 and a future second-round selection.

The fallout has lingered ever since. When Lobb returned to Perth in Bulldogs colours, he was met with loud boos, reflecting the resentment still held by sections of the Dockers fan base.

Now, by selling his Perth home, Lobb appears to be closing that chapter for good.

The property had been a key part of his time in WA. Set on a 911-square-metre block, the three-bedroom, two-bathroom home combined classic features with modern updates.

High ceilings and timber floors remained from the original build, while renovations improved the kitchen, bathroom and overall layout to increase both comfort and value.

The home’s location, close to local amenities and just minutes from Fremantle’s coastline, added to its appeal and helped drive a strong sale result.

The wins keep stacking up for Lobb, whose Doggies are stamping themselves as early premiership contenders.

Coach Luke Beveridge’s Bulldogs, the ‘it’ team of the fast and flashy early rounds, have away wins against last year’s premiers Brisbane and minor premiers Adelaide in the bank.

‘There was a fair bit of integrity in that win,’ said Beveridge after his side’s stirring escape with a 14.10 (94) to 13.10 (88) win at Adelaide Oval last Friday night.

‘I’m not a great forecaster, I’m not a great tipster.

‘But before the season, if you’re going to ask me what I thought were the most challenging parts of the fixture for us, it would be Brisbane at the Gabba, the Crows here.

‘It would be Fremantle at Optus and it will be the Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium.

‘So to tick off two of those … it’s pretty encouraging.’
