A 13-year-old girl who was found dead in a flat suffered four cardiac arrests before she died in hospital, a coroner has heard.
Casey-Louise Horrocks was found unresponsive at the property on Sheepridge Road in Huddersfield in the early hours of 11 August, Bradford Coroner’s Court was told when her inquest opened earlier.
She was given cardiac resynchronisation therapy at Calderdale Royal Hospital but was pronounced dead at 02:18 BST the next day.
A 16-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of murder and rape following her death was released on conditional bail, West Yorkshire Police previously said.
The cause of Casey-Louise’s death is still being treated as unexplained, the court heard.
Casey-Louise was born in Oldham but had been living in Liverpool at the time of the death. She attended Mossley Hollins High School in Tameside, Greater Manchester.
Tameside Council has announced that an urgent safeguarding review will take place into her death.
The inquest was adjourned pending further investigations to 24 February.
