New York Giants defensive superstar Dexter Lawrence has requested a trade out of the Big Apple, according to a report.
The All-Pro defensive tackle will not be participating in the team’s off-season workout program that begins on Tuesday, according to ESPN insider Adam Schefter.
The bombshell demand comes after Lawrence and the Giants have been locked in contract negotiations throughout the past two offseasons.
He inked a four-year, $90 million contract extension during 2023. However, since then defensive contracts have rocketed, pushing Lawrence’s deal down to No. 11 in the league.
Furthermore, the Giants have undergone a major overhaul, losing a number of star players that Lawrence was close to, including the likes of Saquon Barkley.
Lawrence was drafted by New York with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and the tackle has played the entirety of his seven-year career.

He has earned three Pro Bowl nods throughout his career, as well as being picked as a second-team All-Pro twice.
It marks a significant blow for new head coach John Harbaugh who is preparing to embark on his first season in charge in New York.
The coach raved about the defensive player back in February after he stepped into his role with the Giants following his dismissal from the Baltimore Ravens.
‘How important is he? Really important,’ Harbaugh said of Lawrence at the time. ‘He’s super, super important. He’s a cornerstone football player – not really a cornerstone, more like the middle stone. He’s right in the middle. He’s a very big stone, and he’s a very active, athletic one.’
Now, Harbaugh will be forced to navigate the crisis just weeks ahead of the NFL Draft, which will take place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from April 23 to 25.
