Fishers, merchants, processors and exporters are being urged to sign up for the online meeting on 22 October (13.30-1430) as they get ready for extra data submissions needed to generate catch certificates from the Fish Export Service (FES).
Catch certificates are compulsory for most seafood consignments to enter EU markets and a number of other countries, and they require each part of the UK supply chain to meet its data obligations accurately and on time.
From 10 January 2026 additional information will be required for catch certificates, as the EU has updated its data requirements as part of an update of the trading bloc’s Illegal Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) regulations.
Nick Greenwood, MMO’s Head of Marine Protection & Operations Services, said “I would urge everyone involved in seafood exports to the EU to come together with our experts at this webinar.
“It’s a great opportunity for all businesses involved in the UK seafood supply chain to learn what changes will be required in their data submissions – and to ask the questions that matter to their businesses.
“We will hold further webinars and engagement events as well as publishing an in-depth question and answer document as part of our efforts to support the seafood industry to gear up for the changes.
“It is critical that businesses gear up early to make supplying all the required information as simple as possible when the new changes come into force.
“That’s our advice as our number one goal is to support industry to continue exporting efficiently when the changes come in to force on 10 January 2026.”
MMO has set up a campaign page where stakeholders can find out exactly what they need to do to be ready.
The FES team are also asking stakeholder to join a research panel to help design the changes to the export IT system to make sure it’s simple for businesses to use.
