Innovate UK is inviting businesses working in maritime technologies to apply for the Global Business Innovation Programme (GBIP) focused on South Korea.

This programme offers up to 15 selected UK SMEs a market-focused experience in South Korea, aimed at boosting global growth and partnership opportunities. Lasting nine to 12 months, the programme includes a preparation stage, a tailored five-day visit to South Korea, and a follow-up phase to help businesses build on their experience.

Focus areas

The programme focuses on maritime technologies, including

  • integration of alternative fuels, battery tech, and energy efficiency in ships
  • shipyard optimisation and decarbonisation
  • green shipping corridors
  • smart shipping, including autonomy, cybersecurity, and route optimisation

Applications are open to all UK SMEs in maritime technologies.

Why South Korea

South Korea is a leader in global maritime, known for its advanced shipbuilding and strong maritime logistics. It’s a hub for digital shipbuilding, low-carbon shipping, and marine sustainability. Both the UK and South Korea are committed to green shipping corridors, making it a key market for innovation and collaboration.

Benefits of applying

  • build partnerships and collaborations for new business opportunities
