Explore global opportunities in critical minerals and materials

Innovate UK is inviting businesses working on critical minerals and materials to apply for the Global Business Innovation Programme focusing on Canada.

Successful applicants will take part in a structured programme designed to accelerate international growth and collaboration. The programme includes

  • a preparation phase
  • a tailored six-day market visit to Canada
  • post-visit support to help businesses build partnerships and scale globally

The programme will provide participants with bespoke support, and a unique opportunity to find partners and identify opportunities for technology and innovation collaboration.

Focus areas

This GBIP is open to innovative small and medium-sized businesses working on critical minerals and materials across the value chain. Key areas include

  • rare earth value chains – including UK-focused mining, processing, permanent magnet manufacturing, and recycling
  • remining – recovering minerals from mine and industrial waste.

Why Canada

Québec, Canada is an ideal choice for its rich supply of critical and strategic minerals vital to clean energy, EVs, electronics, aerospace, and medical industries. The Québec government’s 2020–2025 plan focuses on becoming a global leader in mineral production, processing, and recycling, with a strong commitment to sustainability and a circular economy approach. This creates a supportive environment for responsible growth and innovation.
