Gary Neville has admitted that the Europa League final is ‘making his stomach churn’ as Man United prepare to take on Tottenham.

The Red Devils face Spurs at the Estadio de San Mames on Wednesday night as both sides look to salvage their dismal campaign’s with a piece of silverware.

For United boss Ruben Amorim, the match present the opportunity of a trophy in his debut campaign – despite the domestic struggles that he’s endured.

Whereas, for Ange Postecoglou, the Spurs boss will be looking to deliver on his promise of winning a trophy in the second season – which at times seemed unlikely.

Now, ahead of the match, former Man United star Neville has weighed in on the match and claimed he feels ‘a little bit sick’ about it all.

Speaking to The Athletic, Neville said:  ‘That game is making my stomach churn with its level of importance, to both clubs.

‘Not just from a silverware perspective, not just from a manager’s perspective, but also from a finance perspective; what it gives both clubs in terms of attracting players and the money that it will put into the clubs. It’s making me a little bit sick.’

Ahead of the match, United boss Amorim was handed a triple boost as their first-team stars made a return to first-team training on Tuesday.

Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro and Diogo Dalot were all pictured in the session having been major fitness doubts for the final.

Dalot has been absence since United’s defeat by Wolves last month after picking up a calf problem.

The defender has been a key player for United since Amorim arrived, featuring at either left or right wing back.

Initially, it had been touch and go whether he would return before the season ended after Amorim had said: ‘There is that possibility but I don’t know, we will check week by week, because he works really hard, he can recover quite well, so we will see.

‘He has a problem with his muscle in his calf. He had a sequence of games, he played all the time.

‘We tried to manage but some of the players have to play a lot of minutes and we have to protect the ones that we think are not so ready to cope with that, but Dalot felt something.’

However, earlier this month, Amorim then offered a more positive update on Dalot, who has played 51 times in all competitions in 2024-25.

‘Dalot is doing everything to recover, and I think they will push now to be available,’ Amorim added.
