Some 222 days after becoming co-owner of Swansea City, Snoop Dogg is set to make his first visit to the club’s ground when they face Preston North End.

The rapper, 54, stunned fans when he followed the likes of Real Madrid legend Luka Modric by joining the club’s ownership group – after a takeover led by American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen – last July.

Snoop, who has spent the last 24 hours performing a private gig in Llansamlet and visiting the club’s training ground, said at the time he was ‘proud’ to become an investor in Swansea due to them being ‘an underdog that bites back, just like me’.

And on Tuesday evening, the musician will walk out at the club’s 21,000-seater stadium for the first time and watch on as Vitor Matos’s side look to climb up the Championship table.

The Swans have encouraged fans to be in their seats 20 minutes before kick-off to ‘join him in a pre-match towel twirl’, with pieces of white fabric emblazoned with Snoop’s face and the words ‘make some noise’ handed out to supporters.

In a video posted to the club’s X account, the rapper said: ‘Swansea City, we created these towels right here for everybody to grab them and wave them in the air. Let’s go.’

The club have shared an abundance of content of their celebrity co-owner ahead of the game, featuring videos of him singing his hit track Drop It Like It’s Hot with club staff.

Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, posed with a personalised No. 20 Swansea shirt after pressing the name and number on himself. He also stopped for a picture with framed images of the club’s iconic former Spanish striker Michu.

Speaking to Swansea’s official website two weeks ago, the rapper said: ‘I know it has been a long time coming, but I cannot wait to finally make my first visit to Swansea City.

‘From the moment we talked about me becoming an owner, I have been looking forward to the chance to be with you all at the Swansea.com Stadium.

‘I have heard so many great things about the atmosphere, especially when we play under the lights.

‘When I watched the Wrexham game, where we showed we are the capital of Welsh football, the noise in the stadium sounded incredible even from over 5,000 miles away. I can’t wait to be a part of it.’

Before travelling to South Wales, the rapper had spent the last number of weeks attending the Winter OIympics in Milan and Cortina, where he was Team USA’s honorary coach and a special guest pundit for NBC.

Snoop was joined in investing in the Swans by his long-term friend, US writer and TV personality Martha Stewart – who joined him on punditry duties in Italy for the Games – last December.

Their venture into British football comes five years after movie and TV stars Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds purchased fellow Welsh side Wrexham, who now compete in the same division as Swansea.

Snoop has been outspoken on his admiration for the pair in the past when previously revealing that he would love to invest in Scottish Premiership side Celtic.

‘I love what Ryan has done with Wrexham,’ he told the Daily Record in 2024. ‘It’s just a great story.

‘Investing in a sports team has been something I have been looking at for a long time.

‘If the chance came to invest in Celtic, I would be crazy not to take a look at it.

‘I have watched so much soccer in Europe but I have never seen fans like the Celtic fans. There is something so special about them.

‘There is a reason why their fans are talked about across Europe. The best players and coaches in the world tell you there is nowhere like Celtic Park and I want to be a part of that.

‘Their mascot is a hound. You couldn’t make that up. Snoop Dogg becomes Hoopy the Hound – that’s gotta be a match made in heaven. The headlines write themselves.’
