Fans have labelled Jimmy Fallon as a ‘fraud’ after discovering the truth about his baseball loyalties.
After starring in the 2005 film ‘Fever Pitch’ – where Fallon played a die-hard Red Sox fan – many fans believed that that he was Boston through and through.
However, that reality came crashing down on Thursday night after he was spotted at a crucial playoff game between rivals; the Red Sox and the Yankees.
As the Yankees secured a dramatic 4-0 win, Tonight Show host Fallon was seen passionately cheering for the home side as they strolled to victory.
Once the clip hit social media, it didn’t take long for baseball fans to confirm their shock at the revelation – before labelling Fallon as a ‘fraud’ over his movie role.
After making the discovery, one fan wrote: ‘Wait. Wasn’t Jimmy Fallon a Red Sox fan?’

The replies noted that Fallon grew up in Brooklyn and had previously voiced his support for the Yankees – despite his role in culture classic ‘Fever Pitch’.
‘Just snapped my Fever Pitch DVD in half watching Jimmy Fallon jumping up and down in excitement for the Yankees’, another fan wrote.
One wrote: ‘Jimmy Fallon has been added to the FRAUD list’ while also posting a clip of the talk show host previously celebrating the Red Sox’s World Series win in 2004, as part of the film.
Another said: ‘Jimmy Fallon that fraud…. you starred in @RedSox movie you clown. A real Yankee fan would never. Get out of here with your celebrating. #RedSox’.
Just six months ago, Fallon hosted famous actress Elizabeth Olsen on his Tonight Show – where she revealed her shock at discovering he was not a Red Sox fan.
Fallon looked stunned before responding: ‘You believed that I was a Red Sox fan? I should have got a nomination for that film because I’m a Yankees fan!’
Meanwhile, in the game at Yankee Stadium, Ryan McMahon provided some much-needed heroics during the do-or-die Game 3 against the Red Sox.
At the top of the eighth inning with the Yankees leading 4-0, McMahon raced 75 feet across the field to track down a high, arcing ball from Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran.
After the clip went viral, fans quickly aired their grievances with Fallon on social media
Not only did McMahon manage to get a hand to the ball he managed to successfully cling onto it as he went flying for the second out of the inning.
He hurtled head first over the railings of the third-base dugout, flipping past the stunned Boston players and staff.
Despite his somersault into the Red Sox bench, McMahon emerged from the outrageous stunt unscathed and remained in the game.
McMahon received a standing ovation inside Yankee Stadium, while many fans on social media likened it to legendary shortstop Derek Jeter’s flip play in 2001 against the Athletics.
