Oh boy, I am so excited for this one.

Whenever I get the chance to cover France at this World Cup, I have a beaming smile on my face. They have been a joy to watch at this tournament, the best team in it so far.

Didier Deschamps’ bid to make a third straight World Cup final and end his tenure with a second triumph as a manager could not have started any better. France went three for three in the groups, and well, they were scary good.

I don’t think anybody wanted to face France in the round of 32, but somebody has to. That somebody is Sweden.

Now, this Swedish side ain’t too shabby; they have some great players. But then again, they did also get tonked by a Netherlands side who have since been knocked out.

So yeah, you fear for Sweden at the MetLife Stadium today. It could be a long day at the office for them; there is no beating around the bush with it.

However, games aren’t won on paper. France have to do their job, they can’t get complacent.

Anyway, that’s enough of an intro. Let’s get cracking.
