  • Expands her family to four children under seven

Former Newcastle Knights forward Alex McKinnon’s ex-wife, Teigan Power, has announced the birth of her first child with partner Jake Nelson, confirming on Instagram that their son, Wyatt Kevin Nelson, was born on Friday.

Power, who shares three daughters – Harriet, born in 2018, and twins Audrey and Violet, born in 2021 – with McKinnon, revealed the news with the caption: ‘He’s finally here. Wyatt Kevin Nelson 02/10/25 So loved already!’

The post quickly drew hundreds of likes and comments from friends, family and fans congratulating the couple.

‘Congratulations beautiful family. A very lucky brother with a very strong name. Will be loved beyond words by his older sisters,’ one wrote.

‘Ohhhh my heart! Little Wyatt!!!! The BIGGEST congratulations beautiful fam bam. He is just adorable,’ another added.

‘Congratulations beautiful people! He is so so so gorgeous,’ a third commented.

McKinnon and Power separated in 2022 after nearly five years of marriage but have continued to co-parent their daughters, often appearing together at major family events and maintaining a respectful relationship focused on their children’s wellbeing.

The pair married in 2017 in a widely publicised ceremony where McKinnon, who became a quadriplegic following a career-ending spinal injury in 2014, stood from his wheelchair to exchange vows with Power.

Following their separation, Power confirmed her relationship with Nelson in December 2023, sharing photos of the pair celebrating Christmas together in what was described as the ‘hard launch’ of the partnership.

Nelson has since become a constant presence in Power’s life and a familiar figure to her daughters.

Wyatt’s arrival marks a significant milestone for the couple and expands Power’s family to four children under the age of seven.

McKinnon, who rebuilt his life through professional and media roles following his injury, has also entered a new relationship and remains in frequent contact with Power as they continue to share parenting duties.
