Just days after leading his high school alma mater to a Florida state title, former quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is considering a return to the NFL.
Bridgewater had initially announced his retirement from the league in 2023 after the Detroit Lions were eliminated from the playoffs in the NFC Championship game.
But after leading Miami Northwestern High School to a Florida Class 3A state title, Bridgewater says he’s considering jumping back into the league.
In an appearance on NFL Network, he was asked about his future when he revealed that he was considering a comeback.
‘Might be signing with a team or something and then returning back to coach high school football,’ Bridgewater told the network.
When asked if he was planning on going back to the NFL, he replied, ‘That’s the plan.’

Bridgewater was drafted out of Louisville by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2014 NFL Draft
Bridgewater was selected with the 32nd overall pick in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings out of the University of Louisville.
He turned into a reliable dual-threat quarterback, but a series of injuries throughout his career hampered his progress to becoming a consistent starter.
In sum, he spent his career with Minnesota, the New York Jets, the New Orleans Saints, the Carolina Panthers, the Denver Broncos, his hometown Miami Dolphins, and the Lions.
He made a Pro-Bowl with Minnesota in 2015 and was named to the All-Rookie Team in 2014.
Across ten seasons (with one lost due to injury), Bridgewater passed for over 15,000 yards – throwing 75 touchdowns and 47 interceptions. He also ran for 844 yards and eleven rushing touchdowns.
He only played in one playoff game – a 10-9 Wild Card loss to the Seattle Seahawks that ended in disaster when kicker Blair Walsh missed a chip-shot 27-yard field goal to win the game.
Bridgewater is currently an NFL free agent – allowing him to sign with any team interested in his services.
