Ford is recalling nearly 420,000 vehicles due to a seat belt issue that could cause injury in a crash.
The recall, announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration this week, affects certain 2018-2022 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator models.
Seat belts may lock inadvertently, failing to retract or extend. A seat belt failing to retract or extend, or retracting rapidly, could result in injury during a crash, the NHTSA states. This recall expands on two previous NHTSA actions. Ford is aware of two warranty claims, two field reports, and one injury.
Owners will receive mail notification. Dealers will inspect and replace affected front seat belt retractors for free.
Separately, Ford issued a do-not-drive warning for thousands of Bronco Sport and Maverick vehicles due to suspension problems.

The NHTSA said front lower control arm ball joints may have been incorrectly installed or repaired, allowing the control arm to disconnect from the front wheel knuckle.
If a control arm detaches, it can cause a loss of control, increasing crash chances. The recall involves 4,600 Bronco Sport (2021-2026) and Maverick (2022-2026) vehicles.
Dealers will inspect and repair the front lower control arm ball joints as necessary, for free. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or the NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 for more information.
Ford warned drivers of another recall in April, when 400,000 vehicles were recalled over the risk of windshield wiper arms breaking, causing reduced visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall covered a total of 422,613 vehicles, including 2021-23 Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigators and a range of F series Super Duty trucks, model years 2022-2023.
