- Daniel Gorringe received email from the AFL
Footy star turned podcaster Daniel Gorringe has vowed not to pay a whopping fine of $7500 handed down by the AFL Tribunal following Thursday night’s Legends match at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne.
The social media sensation – who has 472,000 Instagram followers – revealed he received an email from the league informing him he has 14 business days to cough up the cash.
It follows 13 separate incidents that saw Gorringe’s on-field behaviour called into question when turning out for the All Stars.
‘I’ve been sent an email from legal on behalf of the AFL,’ Gorringe revealed, tongue in cheek.
‘The AFL Integrity Unit are formally notifying you of a breach…footage has been viewed where you engaged in 13 separate incidents involving an obscene gesture directed at players, officials and/or spectators.
‘Notably, a violation of clause 3.2A – conduct unbecoming or bringing the game into disrepute as well as clause 5.1C – display of offensive gestures.

The former Gold Coast and Carlton ruckman appeared to take his ‘enforcer’ role a little too seriously (pictured, smashing comedian Dave Hughes) – with 13 incidents involving Gorringe under the microscope

Funnyman Hughes ended up in intensive care (pictured) in a Melbourne hospital after copping several hits in the exhibition game
‘A sanction of $7500 has been handed down…payable within 14 business days.
‘You can appeal, with a formal request to be sent to the AFL Tribunal.’
Given the exhibition match was to raise money for prostate cancer, the chances of Gorringe actually handing over his hard-earned money are slim.
Regardless, a defiant Gorringe ‘flipped the bird’ in the direction of the AFL and stated ‘he won’t be paying s**t.’
The towering former ruckman, who played a combined 26 games for Gold Coast and Carlton between 2011 and 2017, was also the player many fans felt was the culprit when it came to repeated ‘targeting’ of comedian Dave Hughes.
It proved to be no laughing matter, with Hughes hospitalised with five broken ribs and a punctured lung.
However, West Coast premiership-winner Andrew Embley proved to be the man responsible, colliding with Hughes early in the contest.
‘Andrew Embley (got me). (Luke) Hodge kicked it to me, I dropped a chest mark – it was the lights, there’s too many lights at that ground – and Embley came in from the side,’ Hughes told Triple M’s Mick in the Morning.

‘From that moment I was struggling. Gorringe (later) slammed me in the ruck.
‘I was set up and then he slammed me! He’s a really large man.
‘(At one stage) I thought, “Am I going to die out here?”‘
Embley apologised for his hit on Hughes once the news of his injuries went public on Friday.
‘I just want to say that I am so sorry for my little thump on you last night that has obviously caused so much damage, you look so sore right now,’ he told 92.9 Triple M Breakfast with Xav & Katie.
‘How brave were you, big fella, to continue with the game… I’m thinking of you.’
The All Stars finished with bragging rights after defeating Victoria by eight points.
