Richmond AFL star Mykelti Lefau has allegedly returned a blood-alcohol reading more than twice the legal limit after being pulled over by police at 3am on Sunday in Melbourne.
The 27-year-old Tiger allegedly blew 0.108 after officers carried out a random breath test in Melbourne.
He is now expected to be issued with an infringement notice and could be fined and lose his licence as a result.
Richmond have confirmed the incident occurred and will make a statement, The Age reported.
If past drink-driving incidents involving AFL players are any guide, he can expect to be suspended and fined by the Tigers.
Lefau is a former Melbourne Storm NRL development player who shifted to the AFL and made his mark when he kicked 25 goals in an under-19s match in 2016.

He came through the Tigers’ VFL side, featuring in 11 matches in the 2023 season, and made his AFL debut against Port Adelaide in round two, 2024.
Lefau kicked two goals against Sydney the following week but a serious knee injury meant he only featured once for Richmond last year.
However, he appeared to be getting back on track in the lead-up to this season, kicking three goals against the Bombers in a trial match on Friday.
Lefau revealed how his rugby league background would help him in the AFL when he first started making an impact for the Tigers.
‘I’ll always put my body on the line for the boys,’ he said. ‘All the boys know what I can do in that physical sense.
‘My toughness comes from playing league, but I need to get my body in the right position because you don’t want to injure someone or get in trouble.
‘If I get an opportunity, it is then about being consistent to stay in the team.’
