- Comedy sequel will include a host of big name cameos
- Betting market has been framed on who will make an appearance
- Golfer turned NRL star Braith Anasta has made the list
Could NRL champion Braith Anasta be set for a cameo on the silver screen in the sequel to the Adam Sandler hit movie Happy Gilmore?
While Anasta is better known for his footy career, he is also a talented golfer and has now been linked to an appearance in the much-anticipated Happy Gilmore 2 starring Sandler in the titular role.
Happy Gilmore is a classic sports comedy film released in 1996, starring Adam Sandler as a failed hockey player who discovers a talent for golf.
The film, directed by Dennis Dugan, combines slapstick humour with an underdog story, making it a fan favourite.
It grossed approximately $41.2million worldwide on a modest budget of $12million, cementing its status as a box office success.
Anasta, best known as an NRL star and host of Fox Sports show NRL 360, nearly pursued a professional golf career before returning to rugby league in 1998.

At age 15, Anasta shifted his focus entirely to golf, competing against future tour players like James Nitties and Aron Price.
He narrowly missed victory in a Jack Newton Junior Golf event at Bondi Golf Club but was called back to rugby league mid-season, leading the South Sydney SG Ball team to a grand final win.
Anasta’s passion for golf remains strong; he competed in the 2011 NSW PGA Championship and now supports emerging golfers through his sports management company, Searoo Sports.
With the hype surrounding Happy Gilmore 2 going strong, there has been plenty of internet chatter about which celebrities will get cameos.
Retired golfing superstar Jack Nichlaus, rapper and singer Bad Bunny, NFL star Travis Kelce and actor Margaret Qualley are all confirmed to have small parts in the sequel.
Veteran actor and golf lover Bill Murray is the short-priced favourite at $1.25 to make an appearance, followed by NFL star Jason Kelce, former Dallas Cowboys star Tony Romo, Seinfeld co-creator Larry David and comedian and actor Jason Bateman.
Beyond that, Justin Timberlake, Mark Wahlberg, Snoop Dogg, Matthew McConaughey and comedian Andrew Santino are all hotly tipped to grab cameo roles as well.
But it when you get further down the list that things get interesting. At 21-1, you will find former Australian Test skipper and keen golfer Ricky Ponting. And at 34-1, you will find Anasta.
Anasta has appeared in a betting market for celebrity cameos in the new Happy Gilmore sequel which he laughed off on social media
Before Anasta became a footy star, he was a golfing prodigy that had to make a choice between the two sports
The NRL Roast got wind of this betting market and put it to Anasta on social media platform Instgram. Anasta has shared the image along with a laughing emoji, but has not confirmed or denied his involvement.
Daily Mail Australia has also reached out to Anasta for comment.
Sandler has confirmed there will be a host of big-name cameos in the movie, but is keeping tight-lipped on who they are.
‘We’ve got a lot of good stuff, and we just want to make sure that it all comes together,’ Sandler said.
‘We’re definitely nervous, but we feel some sort of confidence.’
