  • AFL power couple takes the next step leaving fans heartbroken

Bad news Sydney Swans fans, Isaac Heeney is officially off the market after proposing to his equally glamorous partner Steffie Waters.

They announced their engagement on holiday in French Polynesia this week, with Steffie posting: ‘Beyond grateful’.

Heeney and Waters have established themselves as one of the AFL’s most glamorous couples, frequently in the spotlight both at football events and in lifestyle coverage.

Their red-carpet appearances at the Brownlow Medal and the AFL Awards regularly capture media attention, with Waters often highlighted for her polished style alongside Heeney’s reputation as one of the league’s most photogenic players.

Their social media presence adds to this image. A playful post in matching Christmas sweaters went viral among fans. Media outlets have framed them as “the love story fans adore”.

At the 2025 Brownlow Medal red-carpet, Steffie Waters was among the early arrivals, soaking up the red carpet attention.

Heeney’s profile adds to their glamour, with Men’s Health portraying him as bronzed, charismatic, and joking he rarely wears shirts or shoes.

Combined with Waters’ modelling background and her presence at AFL events, the pair have built an identity that places them firmly in the category of a modern AFL power couple.

Former AFL star Mitch Robinson said he was expecting the announcement to come.

‘Was waiting for this post all through the trip haha,’ he posted.

‘This is so good, congratulations guys,’ boxer Harry Garside said.

And Channel 7 media personality Abbey Holmes added: ‘Congratulations guys’.

But not all footy fans were thrilled to hear the news.

Heeney has a legion of fans, many who were heartbroken to learn they had missed their window of opportunity.

‘It should have been me,’ several posted.

‘Mate I would have said yes, ya big beautiful boof head,’ one follower commented.

‘Just saw a young lady drop to her knees at The London,’ added another.

The Sydney Swans endured a tough 2025 season, hit hard by injuries and an inconsistent start under new coach Dean Cox.

The team’s contested marking fell sharply compared to the previous year, exposing a lack of physicality that cost them in key moments.

Youth development also lagged, with players like Jack Buller struggling to find rhythm early.

Despite this, the Swans’ midfield led by Isaac Heeney, Chad Warner and Errol Gulden remained a strength, with all three named All-Australian.

After the bye, the team rallied with an 8-3 record, showing resilience and signs of growth.
