  • Former Rugby Union star has hoodwinked many of his fans

Former footy star Nick Cummins has fooled many of his followers into believing prawns jump out of the water and on to barbecues in Australia by posting a hilarious prank video.

The 38-year-old, who’s known as the ‘Honey Badger’, put the clip up on Instagram to celebrate Australia Day.

Cummins’ video shows him on a fishing boat with tongs at the ready to tend to a barbecue he has on the deck.

As he gets ready to cook, prawns seemingly jump out of the water and land on his cooktop.

‘Check this, had to throw the barbie on because they [the prawns] are just jumping everywhere,’ the ex-Wallabies star said.

‘Holy smokes, they’re everywhere! Have a go at this!’

Of course, in reality, either Cummins or his mates were throwing the crustaceans onto the barbie.

However, many of his non-Australian followers were taken in hook, line and sinker.

‘I never knew prawns jumped like that! …hilarious,’ said one Instagram user.

‘The most Australian thing I’ve ever witnessed,’ another added.

‘So the shrimps throw themselves on the barbie?’ asked a third commenter.

‘That’s a chef’s dream. Imagine getting an order and it jumps to the grill by itself,’ wrote another.

Other comments included, ‘Hahaha never seen anything like it’, ‘Paradise, where the shrimp cook themselves’ and ‘Only in Australia’.

The Honey Badger currently has 445,000 followers on Instagram alone, and has become known for posting funny content featuring him fishing and interacting with animals in the Aussie bush and outback.

Cummins played 87 games for the Western Force and starred in 15 Tests for Australia from 2012 to 2014.

The 38-year-old also won fans by saving a three-year-old girl at a playground last year.

The family of the little girl took to Facebook to thank Cummins for his actions, explaining how he helped save her life.

‘I wanted to thank the man who saved my granddaughter’s life on Saturday 4th October at the Lower Eltham Playground,’ the girl’s grandmother Robyn wrote in a local Facebook group.

‘Maddy started choking on a soft lolly and my daughter was beside herself trying to apply first aid to no avail,’ the post read.

‘Then a ‘big strong young bloke’ appeared from nowhere, and after a couple of unsuccessful attempts held Maddy upside down applying a couple of extra strong thumps which successfully dislodged it from her trachea.

‘God bless you, whoever you are, and we will all be forever grateful to you – each year we will remember you.’
