The first meeting of the prime minister’s new cabinet has taken place inside No 10 Downing Street.
Sir Keir Starmer welcomed cabinet members, telling people they were the “right people for this stage of our journey”.
The new appointments follow a turbulent week for the government, after Angela Rayner resigned as deputy prime minister and the considerable cabinet reshuffle that followed.
A race is now underway to elect a new Labour Party deputy leader, to replace Rayner.
