A fire has broken out at a synagogue in Salford with smoke being seen across the city.
Six fire engines attended the blaze which started on Northumberland Street in Salford at about 17:00 GMT, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said.
Firefighters are trying to bring the fire under control with crews remaining at the scene, it added.
Greater Manchester Police is helping manage traffic.
A man at the scene said he was inside one of the other synagogues on the street and was “shocked” to see fire engines arrive.
A woman described seeing orange flames outside her window as she lay in bed.
“I just hope nobody was hurt,” she said.
