Fans on social media have heaped praise on Joao Neves after he netted a stunning hat-trick in PSG’s win over Toulouse.

After being crowned European champions last season Luis Enrique’s side have picked up right where they left off last season with a perfect start to their Ligue 1 campaign.

On Saturday Les Parisiens travelled to the Stadium de Toulouse to face Carles Martinez Novell’s Toulouse FC.

PSG wasted little time getting down to business immediately following kick-off, with Neves giving his side the lead with a bicycle kick inside the penalty box after just seven minutes.

Bradley Barcola doubled the visitors’ lead just minutes later before Neves was again at the heart of the action.

With PSG already two goals up with just 13 minutes played, Neves received a deflected ball from Achraf Hakimi near the penalty spot.

After deftly bringing the ball under control the Portuguese once again opted for the acrobatic with another overhead kick and once again watched as the ball flew into the back of the net.

In a breathless encounter Ousmane Dembele later extended PSG’s lead from the penalty spot before ex-Leeds defender Charlie Cresswell netted for the hosts.

Dembele added a second spot kick after the interval before Neves once again found himself on the scoresheet with a rocket from outside the box.

A frantic end to the clash saw Toulouse attempt an unlikely comeback with goals from Yann Gboho and Alexis Vossah but talk on social media following the game was focused squarely on Neves.

One fan wrote: ‘Joao Neves pulled off one of the best hat tricks you’ll ever see, every goal was just unreal.’

Another agreed: ‘I cannot believe I missed this. This has to be the best hat trick I’ve ever seen.’

A third added: ‘Best hat trick of all time, all this while playing as a CDM. Generational player.’

With his first PSG hat-trick secured Neves has now matched his Ligue 1 goal tally from last season in his first two appearances of the new campaign.

Speaking following the game Neves insisted his hours on the training ground had paid dividends.

‘I’m very happy with the victory, that’s the first thing,’ he said.

‘And scoring my first hat-trick, I’m really pleased with that. It feels great to score three goals in this match.

‘We played well, but I think there are still things we can improve. In the final part of the game, we conceded two goals, and that’s not what we wanted, so we’ll work on improving certain things.

‘My overhead kicks? I’m happy with them, it’s something I practice in training and it paid off in the match!’
