Once her career being a WNBA point guard and the bodyguard of teammate Caitlin Clark, Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham might be looking for work behind a microphone.

Cunningham, who had 16 points and ten rebounds in Indiana’s 99-82 win over the Atlanta Dream on Friday night, has had video resurface of her interview with Phoenix Suns star Bradley Beal.

Video has re-surfaced from earlier this year when Cunningham – who was on the Phoenix Mercury at the time – interviewed Beal at the end of a game.

She had previously worked as a guest analyst for the Suns and appeared on the team’s pre-game and post-game shows.

Cunningham graduated from the University of Missouri with a major in sports management – but also minored in communications at one of the top journalism schools in the nation.

She initially posted the interview with Beal, who was born and raised in St. Louis, and captioned it ‘just two kids proudly reppin’ MO @RealDealBeal23′ – referring to Missouri’s postal abbreviation.

After that interaction gathered traction again, fans reacted positively and praised her skills.

The video re-surfaced from a Caitlin Clark fan account, which captioned the clip, ‘Sophie Cunningham the sportscaster -she can do whatever she wants when basketball is over. Very talented.’

Another account said, ‘Sophie Cunningham was great here in Phoenix. Always had great takes, never had an agenda. SC will be a great journalist, analyst, sportscaster etc if that’s what she chooses post basketball.’

‘She is smart, quick witted, very beautiful and speaks well. I could see her with a permanant job as a Sportscaster or who knows maybe even better things,’ one fan said.

Another post read, ‘She really is multi-talented. And for critics who cite her modest ppg stats, they’re missing the point. Her personality has enabled her to transcend the sport. She’s the ‘IT’ girl of the WNBA. #AmericasGirlfriend.’

This isn’t the most recent news-making Cunningham has done after she attracted some negative attention in the wake of the announcement that the WNBA was expanding.

In a video on X, she said: ‘You want to listen to your players, too. Like where do they want to play? Where are they going to get excited to play and draw fans?

Cunningham didn’t seem happy that the league was expanding to Detroit and Cleveland

‘I think Miami would have been a great one. Nashville is an amazing city. Kansas City, amazing opportunity. There’s a huge arena downtown that nobody is using.’

‘But man, I don’t know how excited people are to be going to Detroit or [Cleveland].’

That reaction drew backlash from not only fans in the two Midwest cities – but from the actual city governments of both Detroit and Cleveland.
