Devon Simmonds-Caines died on Tuesday after a collision between a car and an e-bike in Middleton

The family of a 15-year-old boy who was killed in a crash have described him as an “outgoing, bubbly person” in a tribute.

Devon Simmonds-Caines died on Tuesday after a collision between a car and an e-bike in Rowrah Crescent, Middleton.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said Terrence King, 59, has been charged with murder in connection with his death and is due to appear before Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on Monday.

The family said: “Devon loved everyone that loved him and showed respect to everyone that respected him.

“When he would love, he would love really hard. He wasn’t a show-off kid and kept himself to himself,” they said in a statement released by GMP.

They said: “We as a family are grateful for the tributes being made to Devon and want peace and to remember him calmly, surrounded by loved ones.

“It was a tragic incident that should never have happened that we don’t want to tarnish Devon’s legacy.”
