A Colorado family is reeling after methamphetamine-laced hot dogs were found in their mother’s yard, causing multiple dogs to become sick, according to 9 News.

Jillian Frank told the outlet her mother, who lives in Broomfield, a suburb of Denver, first discovered a strange hot dog on her property in November.

“She found a hot dog on her patio, and she’s a vegetarian,” she said. “She cracked it open and there’s this crystal substance in it.”

Since then, at least two family dogs have become sick. The Broomfield Police Department is investigating and may have additional updates to provide next week, an agency spokesperson told The Independent.

Jillian told 9 News that her dog Gable ate something on the property and developed strange symptoms in late December. Testing reportedly confirmed he had methamphetamine in his system.

Earlier this month, Jillian’s sister Annalyn Frank also noticed her dog Murray exhibiting similar symptoms. He tested positive for MDMA and meth, 9 News reports.

“I noticed Murray just spinning in circles and foaming at the mouth. I know him really well, so I knew something was not right,” Annalyn told the outlet.

“We had experienced a dog high on meth already, so I was noticing similar symptoms. We looked at the Ring camera, and we saw he had gotten out of my car and he’d eaten something in the grass immediately,” she added.

The family told 9 News they’ve installed security cameras on the property, but there’s still no sign of a suspect.

Jillian has since launched a GoFundMe to help support her family. Her mother, who has multiple dogs, cats and chickens, is now looking to move, according to the fundraiser.

“Starting over will incur an enormous financial burden,” she wrote on the GoFundMe. “Vet bills alone for this ordeal have exceeded $6000. We are at a loss and reaching out for help.”

“Any support you can offer will make a world of difference for our mom, her dogs and cats as they work to rebuild their lives in safety,” she added.

Donors have raised more than $3,000 for the family as of Friday afternoon.

“I feel absolutely helpless. My dogs are my absolute world,” Annalyn told 9 News.
