A woman who flies out to foreign destinations and then returns home on the same day says the journeys – known as “extreme day trips” – are “quite addictive”.
Alison Short told Radio Manchester said she regularly travelled solo but was joined by her teenage son for an “unforgettable” trip to Alicante, Spain, which was “pure fun” even if “tiring”.
She said the phenomenon was attracting interest from hundreds of thousands of people on social media.
Despite drawing concern about their environmental impact, they have become popular due to lower costs and not requiring as many leave days from work.
