The This Morning star signed up for the E4 show after her tough break-up from cheating fiancé Ben Ofoedu.
She apparently made the decision to star in the show after months of talks with show bosses who were keen to sign her up, according to the Sun.
TalkTV presenter Vanessa, who broke up with Ben in February, became the first celebrity to agree to be on the new series.
An insider told the publication: ‘When Vanessa was first approached to do the show, she wasn’t 100% sure as the break-up was very fresh and she didn’t want to rush into anything.
‘Now she has had time to think about it and she’s decided to give it a whirl. Her relationship coming to a devastating, unexpected end after 16 years has made her realise that life is short and you have to grab opportunities when they come your way.
They added: ‘She’s not necessarily expecting to find her soulmate, but she’s also keeping an open mind because stranger things have happened.
‘At 61 years old, she wants to have fun, live life and try new things – and this fits the bill perfectly.’

Vanessa is one of the biggest names Channel 4 bosses have snapped up for the show and they see her appearance on the show as quite a coup.
The source revealed that bosses are certain she will be the star attraction of the series and that viewers will be enchanted by her in her quest to find Mr Right.
It comes after Ben claimed he ‘spiralled out of control’ in the wake of his recent cheating scandal and that his life was only ‘saved’ by a starring role in the new London show, Tony n’ Tina’s Wedding.
Back in February, his ex-fiancée Vanessa Feltz, 61, revealed she had split from her partner of 17 years amid claims he’d been unfaithful and exchanged ‘sex texts’ with another woman, which he later confirmed.
The singer, 50, was soon subjected to vile trolling over his personal life, which caused him to feel like everything was ‘closing in’ on him as he struggled with his mental health.
Still grieving the death of his brother Roy, who had recently passed away aged just 47 due to an ‘unexpected medical crisis’, Ben began to empathise with those who ‘feel there’s no way out’.
But when the role of Vinnie Black in the immersive wedding experience came about, he was able to throw himself into his latest job and escape the outside world.
Over! It comes after Vanessa revealed back in February she had split from her cheating partner of 17 years Ben Ofoedu
The Phats & Small star exclusively told MailOnline: ‘Tony And Tina’s wedding literally saved my life. Like, literally saved my life. I had two major griefs. I had my brother pass away and then shortly after that, my relationship with Vanessa was no more.
‘That’s a 17 year relationship. And man, I was just spiraling out of control. I just felt like everything was closing in on me, my whole life and with the trolling and the backlash I received from my split with Vanessa.
‘I understand that people are just saying stuff and voicing their opinion, but I kind of understand now how people feel that there’s no way out and they just want to end it all.
‘I can understand that if you subscribe to it and you read all the comments and stuff like that, you really start to feel terrible as a person, even though you’re trying to forgive yourself and you can’t forgive yourself because no one’s going to forgive you and then you can’t even forgive yourself.’
