England U17s match is suspended for FIFTY minutes amid claims the Young Lions were racially abused by opponents

England Under-17s saw their match last night suspended for 50 minutes amid allegations that the Young Lions were racially abused.

In a match that England’s youngsters would eventually go on to win 2-1, the only talking point at the end was the alleged racism aimed at Liam Bramley’s players from their opponents.

Images of the match in Duisburg, Germany, showed Bramley consoling his players as they walked off the pitch, with 16-year-old Chelsea player Mathis Eboue appearing particularly upset by what had happened.

There were two stoppages for the match referee to contend with, leading to a 50-minute delay.

An FA spokesperson said: ‘We are aware of disturbing reports of racism towards England players at our MU17 match against Venezuela played in Germany today.

‘This is being treated with the utmost seriousness and our priority is to support our players and staff.

‘We are in ongoing discussions with tournament organisers and the relevant authorities about next steps.’

Daily Mail Sport contacted the Venezuelan Football Federation for comment.
