England handed huge blow as key star fails to train with his team-mates on the eve of their World Cup qualifier against Wales

Harry Kane is a major doubt for England’s friendly against Wales at Wembley on Thursday.

The Three Lions held their first training session on Tuesday at St George’s Park, before again heading out on to the grass this morning.

However Kane, who’s netted a stunning 18 goals in just 10 appearances for Bayern Munich this season, was unable to take part in either session.

England’s record goal-scorer is ‘following his own routine indoors’, the FA said, along with Bayer Leverkusen defender Jarrell Quansah.

It means both stars face a race against a time to be included in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for tomorrow’s friendly against Craig Bellamy’s Wales.

Why the two stars have been training away from their team-mates remains unknown.

England could secure their qualification for next summer’s World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico with a win on Sunday in Latvia.

Tuchel’s men have accrued maximum points from their five qualifiers so far and currently sit seven points clear of second-placed Albania in their group.

But before that comes a friendly against the Three Lions’ Severn Bridge neighbours Wales.

The two sides haven’t faced either since England ran out 3-0 victors in Qatar at the World Cup and speaking ahead of tomorrow’s clash, Wales boss Bellamy was full of praise for Tuchel’s side.

‘England have a ridiculous squad, like France,’ the former Newcastle United star said.

‘They have a transfer market value of £1.4billion, ours is £170million. If you were a boxing promoter you wouldn’t put us together. It wouldn’t be allowed. That’s rough.

‘Are our players undervalued or overvalued? We don’t go off values, but the simple fact is they don’t have just one team.

‘I’m not saying it’s goin to be like a game of chess but it will be interested to see how Tuchel finds us and what he does . I will learn from that.

‘I’m not saying it’s going to be the case but when I was at Burnley, it was the best. You never learn more then when you get your a**e kicked. It gives you a realisation.’

England will however tomorrow be without Jack Grealish, Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham, who have all been overlooked by Tuchel.

Perhaps the most eyebrow-raising of those exclusions is that of Real Madrid star Bellingham.

The 22-year-old has been left out despite recovering from the shoulder injury that kept him out of England’s last squad. He’s since made four appearances for Los Blancos after returning on September 20.

Tuchel has nevertheless instead opted for Elliot Anderson, Morgan Gibbs-White, Jordan Henderson, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Declan Rice and Morgan Rogers in his place – a decision which the German explained in Friday’s press conference.

‘The last camp was only three and a half weeks ago,’ the former Chelsea manager said, ‘teamwork, team spirit were at the highest level so far.

‘That’s why we decided to invite the same group into this camp, to make more stable what we started to build.

‘Are there players out there who deserve to be with us? Yes, for sure. Is there a way back into the team through performance? 100 per cent.

‘We think this is the best and most straightforward position. The competition is on to be in the squad and to make it onto the pitch.

‘I understand your focus on Jude [Bellingham]; he is a very special player, and for special players, there are special rules.

‘But for this camp we decided to stick with out decision to invite the same team, that also applies to Jude. He always deserves to be in camp.

‘There is also the situation that he hasn’t gathered his full rhythm for Real Madrid. He hasn’t finished one full match until now; he has only started one now.

‘He is getting back to full strength. We had a phone call. There is no issue from that side, he just lacks rhythm.’

Manchester City’s Nico O’Reilly earned a late call-up to Tuchel’s squad on Monday.

The youngster was brought in to replace Chelsea’s Reece James, who withdrew from the group with yet another injury setback.
