England have beaten India on a dramatic final day of a pulsating third Test at Lord’s, winning by 22 runs.

India resumed play on the morning of day five on 59 for four, before losing four wickets for 53 runs in the first session.

At lunch an England win looked almost inevitable, but some resilience from Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah gave the tourists cause for hope.

That resilience was undone when Bumrah — after dealing with his first 53 deliveries with the utmost patience — was tempted to pull at a short ball from Ben Stokes.

Bumrah’s unnecessary dismissal left India nine down and needing 46 more runs for an unlikely win.

All hope rested on Ravindra Jadeja, who eventually ended unbeaten on 61 as India’s No 11 Mohammed Siraj fell to Shoaib Bashir in almost comical fashion.

More to follow.
