Howe expressed his disbelief at how many Newcastle fans attended the parade, describing it as ‘absolutely mindblowing’.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Howe said: ‘Unbelievable. I didn’t know what to expect today.
‘Obviously I was hoping for something really special and hoping the weather is good but this is incredible, absolutely mindblowing.
‘It’s incredible, I hoped a few people would turn up but this is something else, you’ve got people hanging from lamposts, out of buildings. I hope everyone’s alright and stays healthy.’
Howe, who has been in charge of Newcastle since 2021, thanked everybody at the club for the way in which they have embraced him.
He said: ‘It’s very emotional when people take to you. You never know when you go to a new club if people will understand your character. I am who I am and people have been absolutely brilliant.
‘I can’t thank everyone enough at Newcastle, the way they’ve embraced me and my family. I’m just glad to have given them some joy.
Howe then addressed Ant and Dec directly as he said: ‘Thanks to you two for being here, it means so much to us.’
